Bucket Of Sads: David Cassidy

The velvet-voiced teen idol has taken a final bus ride to the sky (driven by Reuben, I hope!).

Sometimes when a famed figure from your childhood dies, you listen to their music and it just doesn't live up to the memory. That's not the case with David Cassidy. He was one of the few commercial pop performers of his era whose vocals were comfortably warm, yet technically assured - an "everyman" singer who, of course, sounded like no "everyman" anywhere. Just listen to his version of "Cherish." It's as warm and yearning as you remember.
